The midwifery profession is one of the oldest in the world. Then as well as now, midwives cared for people during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and breastfeeding. Midwives are experts in physiology.

Study requirements
- Proof of general university education entrance qualification, subject-restricted university education entrance qualification or successfully completed vocational training within the meaning of Section 10 (1b) of the Midwifery Act (HebG).
- Current health certificate with proof of health suitability for midwifery studies.

Proof of an internship of at least four weeks in one of the following areas, whereby combinations of several internships are also possible (at the latest by the time of enrollment):
- 1. clinical internship with a focus on obstetrics, maternity ward or gynecological ward
- 2. Midwife's non-clinical work field in a birthing center, in a midwifery practice or with freelance midwives
- 3. internship with a gynecologist or obstetrician with a focus on prenatal care and/or prenatal diagnostics
- Show of an extended certificate of good conduct - not older than three months (at the latest by the time of enrollment)
- Proof of a concluded contract for academic midwifery training for training as a midwife starting in the next possible winter semester as part of a primary qualifying Bachelor's degree program with a cooperation partner contractually linked to the university
- Proof of sufficient German language skills (level C1), if you do not have German citizenship. (by the end of the application deadline)
